Lynn Allen Jones

Lynn Allen Jones, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and loyal friend, passed away from complications of Parkinson’s disease on October 7, 2024. Born January 19, 1942, in Midvale, Utah to Laura McBride Jones and Horace T. Jones. Lynn was raised in Sandy, Utah with his three brothers and two sisters. 

Lynn enjoyed maintaining his beautiful yard, snow skiing, and boating in Lake Powell with his family. He loved his Jordan High School friends and community where he proudly served as president of Key Club. He briefly served in the Army Reserve and worked for the Forest Service. 

Lynn married Carolyn Jenson Jones on July 9, 1964, in Salt Lake City. They met at Jordan High School and were so lucky to have found each other. They always supported one another, Carolyn was the love of his life. She was an amazing wife and mother.

Lynn attended the University of Utah and graduated with a degree in architecture. Lynn’s successful career spanned over 36 years with MHTN Architects where he had experience as a project architect, project manager, business development leader, and served as firm president from 1996-2005. He was a respected member of the architecture community and was awarded Architect of the Year by Sandy City in 1996. Over his career, Lynn was involved with many notable building projects throughout the Salt Lake Valley, but none more important than designing his family’s home in Sandy.

He was preceded in death by his wife and companion of 34 years, Carolyn, sister Joann, and brothers Gary and David. He is survived by his children, Marcie Ward (Jason), Susan Wright, Bryan Jones; grandchildren, Annie, Benjamin, Jenson, Caroline, Jacob, Elisabeth, Eli, Tyler, Charlie, and Alex; siblings, Bryce and Ginny; and many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary located at 3115 Bengal Boulevard, Cottonwood Heights, Utah on Saturday, October 12, at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held at the mortuary prior to the service at 10:00 a.m.
