Lula Mae Flake

November 26, 1920 — July 5, 2019

Mrs. Flake returned home to her Heavenly Father on July 5, 2019 at home surrounded by her family at the age of 98.
Mrs. Flake was born on November 26, 1920 in MacDade, Louisiana to John and Nancy Thomas. Mrs. Flake was the youngest of eleven siblings and attended school in Louisiana. Mrs. Flake moved to Utah in 1952 with two children. She married Willard Flake on July 1, 1963 in Elko, Nevada. Mrs. Flake loved fishing, cooking, reading, travelling, quilting, watching the Los Angeles Dodgers and Western movies, and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Flake loved attending Church, and was an active member at Calvary Baptist Church. She served as an usher, member and Vice President of the Missionary Society, Sunday school member, kitchen supervisor, and attendance counter. At the time of her death, Mrs. Flake was the Church’s oldest member.
She is survived by her oldest daughter, Euridell (Darrell) Bankhead, and her youngest son, Ronnie O’Neal; her two granddaughters that she reared, Debra O’Neal and Monique (Billy) Spillers, five other grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mrs. Flake was preceded in death by her husband Willard Flake; her oldest son, Robert “Boe” Collins; her youngest daughter, Marilyn O’Neal; her parents; and all of her ten siblings.
Services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 1090 South State Street, Salt Lake City, Utah 84111 on Saturday July 13, 2019 with a viewing at 11:00 AM with services to follow at noon. Interment will be at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah, 84123.
