Our dearly loved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and friend LuJuana Fornelius faded away quietly on August 30th, 2017 to reunite with her husband Clyde, and other family members who have passed before. LuJuana was born in Centerville on November 12th, 1928 to Walter Ross and Grace Magdiel Ross. After a rambunctious childhood, she met and married the love of her life, Clyde Uno Fornelius, on June 25th 1955. Their marriage was later solemnized for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.
Lu spent much of her life raising her children and traveling the western United States so the family had the opportunity to explore. After her children were grown, Lu was always reading up on, and planning, her and Clyde’s next adventure. Her passion was gardening, she had the most beautiful yard in the neighborhood. Her dedication to her church calling was admirable, if not extraordinary. After receiving a double knee replacement, she served a service mission planting and tending to the grounds of the Salt Lake City temple which brought her much joy and taught her so much. Lu served many years as the Relief Society President of the Holladay First Ward; she really enjoyed the calling to help others.
Lu is survived by her daughter Cheryl Herrin (John), sons Ross (Margo) and Eric (Corinne), 10 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren who will all miss her very much. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two siblings, and her precious granddaughter Sadie Rose. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 12th at 11:00 a.m. at the Holladay 1st Ward (2065 E. 4675 S.) with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Family and friends may visit Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Cottonwood Mortuary (4670 S. Highland Drive). Interment, Holladay Memorial Park Cemetery.
