Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, LuJean Sandra Olson Proctor, passed away at home just shy of the age of 83.
LuJean was born “A Coal Miner’s Daughter” to Clarence Edgar Olson, and Bessie LaRue Day in Rock Springs, Wyoming. She was the only daughter in a family of four. She graduated from South High School where she performed with the Junior and A cappella Choirs.
She married Allen J. Proctor in 1960 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they created a loving family of five boys. Michael Proctor (Eric), David Proctor (Ann-Marie), Scott Proctor, Todd Proctor (Carola), and Matthew Proctor (Melanie). LuJean had eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
LuJean’s passions were her family and her home. She used her artistic talent to brighten every room of her house, taught her children the value of cooking, baking, and keeping a clean and orderly home. She was also talented at crochet and created countless beautiful baby blankets. She loved to travel with Allen, her family and her friends, and was particularly fond of trips to Newport Beach or Disneyland to visit It’s a Small World to indulge in her love for dolls.
LuJean was exceptionally loving and a talented peacekeeper. She was a natural conversationalist and loved to spend time talking and sharing stories. She loved to read and filled her home and her Kindle with stacks and stacks of good books. She excelled in many church callings including Primary, Young Women, Relief Society and Activities Committee. She worked for Junior Achievement of Utah for over a decade as the Administrative Assistant to the Director before a debilitating injury cut that career short. She battled many severe health challenges for the last third of her life but faced them all like a champion prize-fighter. She was a shining example of how to overcome significant hardships by faith and with the love and help of family.
