He is reunited with his parents, Carmen Shimokawa de Diaz, Cesar Alejandro Diaz Araujo; and his beloved daughter; Susana Angelica Diaz.
Luis was born on November 30, 1947 in Lobitos, Piura located in Peru. He married the love of his life Elisa on January 11, 1980 in Santiago de Chile and had four children. In 1989 he made the difficult decision to immigrate to the United States where he worked three jobs and made innumerable sacrifices in this country to ensure his family could live comfortably in Peru. In 1996 he was reunited with his wife and kids, and begun a new life in West Valley City, Utah where he worked tirelessly to make sure his children lived to their potential and took advantage of the economic and educational opportunities that pulled him to immigrate to the States.
Throughout his life, he worked as a civil engineer in Peru, and held numerous jobs in this country ranging from electronics, custodial work, and as a massage therapist. He loved his community and served them by providing comfort, wisdom, and alternative healing services. He welcomed strangers to his home and cared deeply about those in pain, or in situations that kept them from accessing traditional healthcare. His passion to help others in stress led him to study in the University of Chilife, Mexico where he received diplomas in Acupuncture, Kinesiology, Orthomolecular and Homeopathic medicine.
He loved his family and devoted his entire life to their well being. He was an inspiration to them, and all those that loved him and saw him as a father, including his two daughters-in-law, Mya Shimokawa and Mariel Diaz; his grandkids, Midori, Cataleya, Katherine, Noemy, Andy, Devin, Justin, and Dylan; and all the people he healed with his talents. In his last moments here, he expressed his gratitude for all the care, memories, and loved he received from his family and friends.
Luis, an exemplary husband, father, and grandfather will be missed but his legacy will be immortalized through all the lives he touched in this world.
