Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Lucylle, age 95, passed away in Murray Utah from causes incident to age. She was born in Chicago, IL, to Walter Ignatz Horbacz and Mary Anna Krupaniczka Horbacz. She was the middle child of seven. During WWII, she met a young sailor, Leo Jones, at the United Serviceman’s Center in Chicago. They married after the war in Oakland, California. They lived in Chicago, Colorado, and eventually settled in Utah, where Leo had been born and raised. Together, they had 2 children; Sandra (Denis Deck) and Gary.
After her children were in school, she went to work as an accounting clerk for Mountain Bell, and retired in 1983. After retirement, she volunteered at the Catholic Center in downtown Salt Lake City for 2 years. She then volunteered at the Clark Cushing Heritage Center in Murray, Utah for over 20 years.
Lucylle had such a zest for life. Her infectious smile and quick wit drew others to her. She loved her garden, winning prizes at the County and State fairs, her beloved pets, camping in the mountains, Wendover trips, and her family. She enjoyed attending (and had season tickets to) Ballet West performances, especially the Nutcracker, Cinderella, and Giselle. Broadway Across America musicals were also special favorites, particularly Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, and Mamma Mia.
She was preceded in death by parents, her husband of 49 years, her brothers Ben and Arthur, sisters Charlotte, Gertrude, Sophie, and Ruth.
Survived by her daughter Sandra (Denis Deck), son Gary, grandchildren Crystal, Melissa (Andy Stenho), Sariene, Mattie (Brett Barton), Leo, and Tamara (Josh Ferrin), and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Roy J. Gandolfi, who provided such excellent care for over 35 years; the staff at Legacy Village Rehab and Memory Care, and the nurses from Millcreek Home Health and Hospice.
