Passed away peacefully at the age of 102 having lived a vibrant engaged life and surrounded by the loving energies of biological and Soul family.
Peg’s energy and capacity for jumping into experience began early with a love for sports from ice skating, skiing, swimming to horseback riding and fencing. Even as she aged, she could be found playing with grandchildren on the top of a bunk bed or having energy to dance to big band music at 100. Her joie de vie and enthusiastic interest in her beloved family provides a Light and beacon that continues to shine and multiply through the many people she loved and who loved her.
Peg worked in the medical field starting in the 1940s when she and her lifelong friend Kay moved to San Francisco where she trained as an X-ray technician. This lifelong friendship continued as they returned to Salt Lake City, cheering and supporting one another as they traveled from teenagers into their 90s through marriages, children, work, widowhood and eventually moving to the same residential living. They are probably having celestial tea now talking it all over!
Helen married her soul mate Donald E. Leech (1924-2009) in 1963. They created a home and life of simple elegance and warmth where everyone was welcome and graciously received. Helen was a wonderful cook and adopted healthy eating and lifestyles long before they were popular. Hosting family parties and always helping neighbors and community continued even after they both retired. She loved the foreign travel they did together as well as the weekly picnic dinners in the canyon. She relished the tuna fish sandwiches around a campfire as much as Captain dinners on a cruise.
Helen’s deep love and devotion to family began early with her close bonding with her siblings. They lost their Mother (Lucille Parkinson Lloyd 1900-1982) to illness that took her from the home in 1927 hence the siblings were extraordinarily close, resilient, and determined. She was the oldest followed by her brother John H Morgan Jr. (1923-2022), Erma (Todt) 1924- , Dawn (Delvie) 1927-2016.
She used to say that she exasperated her beloved father, John H. Morgan Sr. (1894-1982) with her unconventional ways but she was ahead of her time and a paradigm shifter full of curiosity and courage.
Helen is survived by many loving family members including her younger sister at age 99 Erma Todt, Cheryl (James) Jones, Michael (Dana) Jones and their children Grace and Benny; Kristen (JJ) Stafford and their children Emily and Sam; Sandy (Bob) Rose, and devoted and beloved nieces and nephews Chris (Mark) Thomas, Anne Morgan (Roy) Jepperson, Victoria Morgan, Valdirene (MJ) Thomas, John (Shauna) Delvie. In addition to the many children and great grandchildren of the close friends she cherished, she particularly adored Kay’s children Sue (Ron) McMillin, Christian (Janette) Modsley, and Steve (1952-2024).
Her family wants to especially acknowledge her “team” who helped her over the last few years of her life: Valdirene Thomas, Patricia Prates, Paula Sousa, Ann Maurine Frink, Brandi and Sky Thomas, Darcy Brown, Sunrise Senior Living, and Inspiration Hospice. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to your favorite charity and continue to take good and gentle care of yourselves so that you too can model Hope, Joy, Resiliency, and Determination. In gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate you, Peg!
