Lucy Eunice Potter Stewart

April 16, 1921 — October 28, 2017

Our dearly beloved went back home to God on Sat. Oct. 28, 2017 and a great light went out of this world. This very special blessing was sent to this world April 16, 1921 in Rigby, Jefferson Idaho to Warren Smith Potter and Emeline Amelia Campbell. She was the 5th of 8 brothers and sisters, Annie Madge, Warren Teddie, Isaac Jay, Emeline June, Vola Joy, Vada Bell, and Laurenia Loy.
She earned a teacher writing diploma at 12 years old and spent her life teaching children and helping others. She babysat and was a home missionary. She became a substitute teacher and moved to Brigham City where she also became a boy scout leader and held various positions in the LDS church including teaching genealogy.
She had 3 children, Yvenna, Heather, and Vance; 9 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. Everybody called her grandma, including her students, so her family was much bigger. She moved from Brigham City to Salt Lake City with her 3 children and her husband, Edward Leo “Bud” Stewart where she continued to teach and care for children when she became a foster parent. She raised 4 of her grandchildren, Little Vance Hansen, Stacy, Emeline, and Cindy Sims.
Eunice taught at Mount Vernon Academy. Besides these things, she was involved in her children’s activities even becoming a possie member to watch/guard prisoners going to jail or working on campaign committees to get them elected to office. She touched many lives and will be missed by all.
Grandma we will miss you. “Grammie I will miss you.”
