Lucille Isabell Schmidt (Sturm) Broadbent was born on July 23, 1933 in Logan, Utah. Her family lived in Chicago, Illinois until she was seven when they moved to Murray, Utah. She was just nine years old when her mother, Margaret Schmidt, passed away. She and her brother Ben and sisters Ruth and Martha were then raised by George and “Mum” Sturm and family of Murray, Utah. She graduated from Murray High School in 1951. After graduating from LDS Business College in 1968, Lucille worked for the Salt Lake County Health Department for 20+ years and retired from her position as payroll administrator in 1996.She married Lorin J. Broadbent in 1950. When Lorin died in 1970, she worked ceaselessly to raise and provide for her seven children. Even with a full time job and seven children to raise by herself, she had the ability to make sure all her children knew that they were dearly loved.Lucille is survived by her children Sherry Morandi, Lorin, Ronald, Anne (John) Turek, Teresa (Eddie) Brinkerhof, Karen (Regan) Andrews, Michael (Suzanne), nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and another great grandchild on the way! She was preceded in death by her mother, brother, husband, and grandson Joey Levy.A viewing will be held from 6-8, Wednesday, August 21 at Murray Memorial Mortuary 5850 S. 900 E, Murray Utah, and from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, with a graveside service to follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Garden Terrace for helping make her last moments peaceful.
