On April 30th, 2024, our family lost our treasured matriarch and the Utah Jazz lost their biggest fan, Lucile Christensen Martin. We lost our Mama, our Grandma, our Grandma Great and our Great, Great Grandma . In addition, we lost our mentor, our friend and our hero. Our absolute ROCK!!!!
She had many struggles in her life and never failed to rise to the occasion, she didn’t just overcome, she flourished from them. She was, by far, the youngest 96 year old to grace this planet and never shied away from an adventure. Every year for her birthday, even her last, it was her wish to go whitewater rafting with her family. She never missed a Jazz game and worked at the Delta center until she was 92. In addition to the Jazz, her favorite sports teams were the University of Utah football program, the Bees baseball team and Real Salt Lake soccer team. She enjoyed watching her favorite soap opera everyday, the Bold and the Beautiful.
Family meant everything to her and she NEVER missed a family member’s birthday, graduation, marriage, etc. She was the one you could always rely on to be there for you whenever you needed her. Her love is FIERCE and can still be felt by all who loved and adored her.
Lucile was born on August 4, 1927 in Ephraim, Utah to Luera Mellor Christensen and Orval Christensen. She married Lionel (Marty) Martin on May 1, 1948. Later divorced. She is preceded in death by her baby son, Marty; sister Claris Peterson Nielson; four brothers: Lavon, Garth, Keith and Lynn, and great granddaughter Janneura Hatt. She had 9 beautiful children: Madilee Puttuck (Gary), Marty (Deceased), Kathie Kingston l(Ted), Kelly Martin, Suzette Dale (Paul), Coral Mutscheller (Jim), Shelley Brinck (Jeff), Kimberley Folster (Nici) and Patrice Martin. She has 17 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren. She loved all without measure; a piece of her lives on in each of us. Our family’s love will always keep her incredible spirit alive.
