Lowell was born May 17, 1936 in Washington D.C. He spent his younger years between Maryland and in the shadow of the Wasatch Mountains. After graduating from High School in Washington D.C., and serving an L.D.S. Mission in the mid-west, Lowell returned home to Utah where he married and began a career in floor coverings. Lowell lived those early years in the area known as Granite, at the mouth of Little-Cottonwood Canyon, where he started his family and his career. Lowell was also very involved with church and the boy scouts. At this time, Lowell also developed a deep love, and appreciation, of the outdoors, to include hiking, hunting and most importantly, fishing. Lowell has spent the last 30 years living in the Taylorsville area, where he has lived a wonderful life with his wife, family, neighbors and friends.
Lowell loved many things in this world. He was very proud of his career as a self-made man, and he considered his children his greatest accomplishments. Lowell loved and adored family, spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them the “simpler ways” of life. Lowell spent his life serving others, through his church callings and as a missionary both in his early years and again later with his wife as a service missionary. Lowell also was very proud of his time as a temple worker in the Jordan River Temple. Lowell also served others by helping those who just needed a friend. Lowell often said, “A true friend is someone who knows everything about a person’s life and then is still that person’s friend”. Lowell, more than anything, will be remembered as being a true friend.
