Lowell was born in Rexburg, Idaho on September 27, 1940 to Silas Jesse Hinckley and Zena Althea Westover; the youngest of 8 children and a descendant of the Hinckley pioneers. He was an active member of the LDS church throughout his lifetime where he even served two years as an LDS Missionary with the Southwest Indian Mission area where he taught the gospel to the Navajo Nation, which fueled his passion for the Native American culture. For nearly 40 years, he worked with Western Airlines/Delta Airlines, retiring in 2006. He was never afraid of being a hard worker, even frequently working holidays. As a result, he provided well for his family and was able to take them on numerous vacations, such as Hawaii and Disneyland.
He was a dedicated, caring husband and father. All who knew him, remember him fondly for his selfless and giving nature. Lowell believed in the importance of family togetherness. He was also a lover of lighthouses, World War ll planes, old western movies, and the author Louis L’Amour.
