Louise Oshita

August 19, 1929 — April 4, 2014

Our beloved Louise “Weeg” Mieko Oshita peacefully passed away in her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, April 4 2014. Born in Minot, North Dakota on August 19, 1929, and raised in Montana, Louise settled in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1947. Beginning her work as a secretary for Eagle Laundry, her career continued to evolve throughout the years, eventually leading her to become the head equity trader for the Utah State Retirement System until her retirement in 1994. On September 9, 1951, Louise married the love of her life, Albert Utaka Oshita, in the Japanese Church of Christ. Prior to his death in 1978, they enjoyed twenty-six wonderful years of marriage. Their three children, Larry, Janice, and Sharon provided her with many years of happiness, as well as her two grandchildren, Curtis and Erica. Her grandchildren were her absolute pride and joy.
She lived an active life, spending her free time golfing, bowling, knitting, playing the piano, and of course, cheering for the Utah Jazz. Blessed with incredible friends and a caring family, she led a simple life filled with happiness, laughter, and love. With her exceptionally sweet and gentle disposition, Louise made her way into the hearts of everyone she knew. Her strong will, kind heart, and quiet sense of humor will forever be remembered.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Al Oshita and survived by her children Larry Oshita, Janice Takagi (Gary), Sharon Oshita (Mark Aramaki); grandchildren Curtis and Erica Takagi; sister Grace Noda (Larry), and nieces Trisha and Naomi Noda.
The family would like give thanks to everyone at Rocky Mountain Home and Hospice Care, and offer a special thanks to Dr. Wayne Samuelson and Dr. Yong Hui Ahn for their constant care and guidance.
Following a private burial provided by the Murray Memorial Mortuary, a casual celebration of Louise’s life will be held on Sunday, April 13, between 1-4 pm, at the Cottonwood Country Club (1780 Lakewood Dr, Holladay, UT 84117). In lieu of flowers, please donate to the “Community Building Community” Family Clinic (695 West Center Street, Midvale, Utah 84047). Online condolences www.murraymemorial.com
