Louann Blackburn Hutchison
January 19, 1934 — January 7, 2019
Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, LouAnn Blackburn Hutchison passed away on January 07, 2019, at the age of 84 after a long illness. She was born on January 19, 1934, in Boise, Idaho. At eight years old, she contracted polio, and spent an entire year in the Children’s Polio Ward, but recovered and went on to win an award for having the best posture at her school. Her zest for life with her loving, happy smile was her trademark.
LouAnn graduated from South High School. She went on to sing in the Salt Lake Symphonic Choir where she met her true love, Thomas L. Hutchison, Jr. whom she married on May 28, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, gardening, making ceramics, and baking her world-famous mint brownies for the annual July 3rd party at their home. LouAnn cherished her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings.
She is survived by her siblings, Larry (Dawna) Swanger, Joyce Swanger, Michael (Diana) Swanger; her children, Sheila Hutchison, Marilyn (Dale) Matson, Suzie (Steve) Jones, Warren (Becky) Hutchison, Jim (Danyell) Hutchison; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Merle B. Swanger and A. John Swanger, her husband, and her daughter (Helen). She will dearly miss her lifelong friend Betty J. Rider and the many memories they shared. The family wishes to thank her many friends and the caregivers at Intermountain Home Health Care.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 13, from 6:00-8:00pm, at Memorial Holladay-Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, Holladay, Utah, 84117. Funeral service will be held Monday, January 14, 2019 at 11:00am, with a viewing one hour prior to service at the Park Meadows Ward (601 East Mansfield Avenue, Salt Lake City, Utah 84106.Service Information
