Lorraine Evelyn Nelson Engebritson

March 24, 1922 — June 22, 2019

Lorraine Evelyn Nelson Engebritson was born on March 24, 1922 in Sisseton, SD to Knut and Matilda Nelson. Her soul left our physical presence at the age of 97 on June 22, 2019 in Murray, Utah.
She was born as the second oldest sibling to Agnes “Aggie” (1920), Clarice “Mia” (1924), Kenneth “Buddy” (1926), Oscar “Ted” (1929), Reuben “Bob” (1932), Donald “Donny” (1934), James “Jimmy” (1937).
Lorraine married the late Leo Engebritson at the age of 21, in Webster, South Dakota. The Family moved to Utah in the 1950’s where they made home until she passed.
Together, Leo and Lorr had 3 children, Vickie Engebritson Hemmingway (David), Paulette Engebritson, Michael Engebritson (Bonnie), 10 grandchildren, Wendy Bruno (Pete), London Peterson (Carla), Colbie Peterson Warne (Zion), Marshall Peterson (Shelly), Ryan Engebritson, Sarah Engebritson (Veral), Matthew Engebritson and Amy Engebritson Beal (Colby), Angela Magleby (Garron Mickelson), RaNae Magleby,  15 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, whom loved both, Leo and Lorr, dearly.
Both Leo and Lorr were extremely active grandparents in all their grandchildren’s lives and Lorr was lucky to be here to watch her great grandchildren grow into young adults. We were all very lucky to have her for so long during our time. As a family, we were grateful to recently spend her daughter, Paula’s birthday together and was the last time her entire family was able to celebrate together.
Lorr was a talented artist and loved to shower her family with gifts made by her own hands. We are forever grateful for the blankets that she made her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  “GG” wanted to make sure, if she wasn’t here by the time her great grandchildren came to this earth, they still had a blanket waiting, just for them and to let them known GG was thinking of them before they were born.
We will forever miss her ‘giggle hugs’, rhubarb and strawberry jam , her favorite saying whenever frustrated, happy or surprised, “Oh Gawd” and the pack of gum she always had in her purse to share with her grandkids. And of course, the famous sugar cookies no one has been able to make as she did and those yummy ‘Hard as a Rock” cookies. She was the hardest working Wife, Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Friend anyone could ask for. She will be greatly missed and leaves a large void in her family.
Lorraine survived by her children Paulette Engebritson and Michael Engebritson, her brother Donny, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leo Engebritson, daughter Vickie Engebritson Hemmingway, and her siblings, Aggie, Mia, Buddy, Ted, Bob and Jimmy.
A celebration of Life will be held on Friday July, 5th, 2019 from 6-8 PM at Memorial Mortuary @ 5850 South 900 East in Murray, Utah.
