Lorna Poeker

January 26, 1938 — June 29, 2020

Lorna Dee Poeker, 82, died June 29, 2020 peacefully of congestive heart failure.  The family felt a tender mercy to be allowed a couple weeks of quality time to celebrate her life with loved ones prior to her passing.
Lorna was born January 26, 1938 in Spanish Fork, Utah to Dee and Ruth Shurtleff.  She was raised in Springville.  She loved camping with parents and family.  Spending time with her cousins created a special bond between them.  She played guitar and loved music.
She sang in the Schubert Ladies’ Choir for 40 years, where she developed many dear friends and relationships over the years.  Lorna was a friend to everyone, always willing to help whomever she could.
She had a passion for the outdoors and loved painting many of the places she visited.  Lorna also enjoyed playing games including scrabble, farkle and puzzles.
Lorna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  She served in many ward callings throughout her life.  She had a very strong testimony of the plan of salvation and great comfort in know that she would join loved ones and have family members join her in the hereafter.
Lorna had many passions but her greatest love was her family.  The family over the last few weeks heard many stories from friends and extended family about their fun adventures and all shared laughter, smiles and good times.
The family wishes to thank Inspiration Hospice Care for their love, dedication, and attention to the care of Lorna in the last weeks of her life.  Their selfless service and attention to detail cannot be underestimated, they are truly heaven’s angels on earth.
Survived by her loving husband Bernd; children Kaisa (Richard) McKenna of Kemmerer, Wyoming; Loren (Amy) Casterline of South Jordan; Denise, deceased (Dana) Jensen of Newton; and Susan (Hector) Moreno of Holliday.  12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.  Also survived by siblings Wayne (Susan) Shurtleff and Ross (Wanda) Shurtleff.
