Lorna Mary Gochis

May 17, 1956 — February 6, 2022

Lorna Mary Gochis was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She lost her long battle with cancer on February 6, 2022.
Lorna was born in Salt Lake City to Newell and Shirley Erekson Garff on May 17, 1956. She graduated from Olympus High School in 1974. After graduating from high school, Lorna had two sons, Dustin and Kristopher. She later met and fell in love with Jim Gochis, with whom she shared his two boys, Jimmy Lee and Jeremy.
Lorna spent her career working numerous administrative roles in the financial and healthcare industries. She was a talented seamstress and crocheted many blankets for each new baby born into her extended family. Alongside her husband, she loved their time spent boating on the lake, traveling to Greece, and their many trips to San Diego, Flaming Gorge, and Lake Powell.
Lorna’s greatest pride was her grandchildren, who knew her as their “Yia Yia”. She cherished spending time with them, playing games with them, and shopping for the perfect gifts for them. She was the kind of grandmother that would give up any plans she had to spend time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her mother, Shirley Erekson Garff; sons, Dustin (Shondel) Gough and Kris (Deborah) Gough; stepchildren, Jim (Julie) Gochis and Jeremy Gochis; sister, Shauna Parry, and her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, Newell Garff; her brother Kim Garff; and her husband Jim Gochis.
Lorna’s family would like to thank the staff at Solstice Hospice as well as Jackie with Pacifica Senior Living for their care and compassion.
Funeral will be held at Memorial Murray Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East on Monday, February 14 at 11:00.
