Loretta Maxine Peterson

March 12, 1935 — January 20, 2017

Maxine Peterson passed away on January 20, 2017 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. She was born March 12, 1935 to Maude and Orson Powell in Wellington, Utah. She met her husband, Laurin Peterson, while working as a car hop at Don Carlos. They were married shortly after in Elko, NV on July 9, 1958. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this past July. They raised five daughters, Sherrie Regis, Toni Balak, Michele (Lane) Carter, Loretta Peterson and Angela Phillips. Also cherished her adopted daughter Roberta Barrett and granddaughter Jayleene for their love, friendship and care. She held many prominent church positions in her Ward and Stake including Stake Relief Society and Primary President. The job she was most proud of was nurturing and caring for her grandchildren.
Survived by her husband, daughters, 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.
Thanks to the staff of the Osmond Senior Living and Memory Care of Salt Lake and Solstice Home Health & Hospice for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, please volunteer at a local nursing home or assisted living facility.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 24th from 6-8 p.m.. The funeral service is on Wednesday, January 25th at 11am with a viewing prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m.. Viewings, funeral service and interment will be held at Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery, 6500 S Redwood Rd, West Jordan, UT.
