Loraine Raiser

August 22, 1929 — October 28, 2013

Loraine Mae (Horslev) Raiser, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the age of 84. Born on August 22, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois the oldest daughter of Melvin and Annette Horslev. She grew up in Illinois with her sisters Arlene & Sandy and her brother David. She married Edward Raiser on May 19, 1951. They were converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and were sealed in the Logan, Utah temple one year later.
Loraine took great joy in every church calling she held. She served for 17 plus years as a member of the stake Relief Society board and as president. She had a special love of visiting teaching and serving others. She loved the gospel – it brought great joy to her life. She was a walking example of the Savior. She loved being a homemaker and grandmother, and especially a great grandmother. Loraine’s special interests included family history and china painting. Her talents of sewing, singing, playing piano, and drawing were a source of much happiness in her life. While living in Ohio she was also an active leader in the community.
She is survived by her husband Edward of 62 years, daughters Louise Metcalf (Ray), Ginny, son Aaron, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11:00 am at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road in West Jordan, Utah. There will be a viewing at the mortuary from 6-8:00 pm on Friday, November 1, 2013 and one hour prior to services on Saturday. Interment will be at Redwood Memorial Park.
