Loraine Joyce Parker Solberg, age 90, South Salt Lake.
Our sweet mom, grandma, and great grandma, passed away very stubbornly on Feb. 25th, 2019, after a long life of gardening, shopping at the mall, and caring for her loved ones.
Loraine was born Oct. 20th 1928 to Algean Parker and Grace Leona Grange.
She graduated from West High in 1946
She married her sweetheart Lawrence William (Sam) Solberg on Valentine’s day 1948
They had two children, a daughter Sharon (Mike) Defa, and a son Dennis ( Debbie) Solberg
Loraine grew up in humble circumstances and made it her goal in life to ensure her children and grandchildren never went without. She lovingly served them, fed them, clothed them (in name brand jeans), attended dance concerts too many to number, and supported many sports events as well.
It is an understatement to say she loved her garden. Together she and Sam worked tirelessly to create a beautiful and fun filled yard for family gatherings and endless Sunday dinners.
Loraine loved her neighbors as if they were her sisters. It was very hard for her to watch them go one by one, and be the last women standing on Blair Street. We love picturing her reunion with them, her sister Grace and many family members. She’s waited 64 years to be reunited with her parents who both died when she was only 26.
Loraine is survived by her children Sharon and Dennis, her 9 grandchildren. Brooke, Becky (Rob) Christensen, Brittney (Mike) Coyle , Kimberly (Rick) Locke, Kelley (Mark) Allred, Chad (Amy) Solberg, Shawn (Xiangmiao Yuan) Solberg, Brett (Michelle) Solberg, Kenzie (Brad) Klemetson, as well as 21 great grandchildren. Skylar, Taysa, Lauren, Brayden, Jaxon, Hannah, Jaci, MaKell, Ava, Parker, Marley, Henry, Clara, Mckinlee, Maycee, Carly, Ellie Kate, James, Simon, Jayden, and Landon.
She is preceded in death by her Husband, and Sister Grace (Judd) Worthen, .
Funeral services will be Saturday Mar. 2nd 2:00 pm at the Memorial Lake Hills Mortuary/Cemetery. with a viewing one hour prior to the services 10055 State St, Sandy, UT 84070.
