Lonnie Robert Macdonald

November 15, 1961 — April 12, 2020

On Sunday, April 12, 2020, Lonnie Robert Macdonald, loving husband to Michelle and father to Trevor and Josh, passed away at the age of 58.
Lonnie was born in Claremore, Oklahoma in 1961 to Barbara (nee Hadden) and Jimmy Macdonald. After graduating from Provo High School in 1980, he faithfully served a mission in New York City for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married Michelle (nee Swapp) in 1983 and they raised their two sons, Joshua Douglas, born in 1984, and Trevor Andrew, born in 1987. Together, Lonnie and Michelle instilled in their sons strong work ethic, principle, and empathy.
Lonnie’s magnetic personality, generosity, and determination served him well throughout his 30+ year career in marketing and sales. Lonnie actively sought out opportunities to help others be their best versions of themselves, and loved watching others achieve their goals. He was a charismatic leader who deeply cared for the well-being of his employees and peers. In addition to serving in leadership roles throughout his career, he lent his expertise to the Expect Miracles Foundation where he sat on the board and advocated for cancer research.
Lonnie was a good soul with incredible faith. He always prioritized Michelle’s needs over his own, and loved golfing, traveling, and – most of all – fly fishing on The Snake River. Many of his happiest days were spent floating The Snake with his sons, friends, and loved ones.
Lonnie had a deeply personal relationship with his savior, Jesus Christ, and he strove to emulate His example. He served as a member of the High Council in the Exeter New Hampshire Stake for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where his presence will be dearly missed.
Lonnie is survived by his wife of 36 years, Michelle, his sons Trevor (Katie Van Hazelen) and Josh (Larina), his honorary daughter Alyssa (Boone Bolinder), his grandchildren (Carson, Mika, Jane, Miles, Lewis, Finn, and Lottie), his mother, his brothers, and his sisters.
Local services are private. Interment will take place at the Memorial Lakeview Cemetery in Bountiful, Utah. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lonnie can be made to The Expect Miracles Foundation. For online condolences, please visit www.GrondinCarnevale.com.
