Longosaiti Mafile’O

September 12, 1945 — March 28, 2021

LongoSaiti (Saiti) was born on September 12, 1945 in Vaini, Tonga to Maloni and Mele Mafile’o.
LongoSaiti Mafile’o, died on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at the age of 75.
Saiti is survived by his children: Teivi, Samoa (Sia), Aunofo (Kelly), Etuini (deceased) Priscilla (A’ati), Jared, Allen (Jillian), Kent (Brandi), and Taylor. Grandchildren: Maika, Aliya, Emma, Amara, Ryder, and Collin. Siblings: Amelia, Sione and Maika.
He is Preceded in death by his parents, Maloni and Mele as well as his siblings: Temalisi, Etuini, Lotomoua, Tapa, Vaimoana, and Pilini.
Growing up on the island allowed Saiti to develop many skills which he brought with him to the United States. He came from Tonga as a Planter. Saiti had a “green thumb”, anything to do with landscaping; Saiti was the man! He started his own successful business and was a licensed contractor in landscaping, tree trimming, and tree removal. He was the best tree man around, there was no other like him! He climbed to the top of hundreds of trees without fear, and worked his magic! Saiti loved to watch wrestling and boxing. He also loved to play pool and was very good at it. He loved attending his grandkids football, basketball, and soccer games. He made the best lu pulu, everyone loved it, especially the grandkids!
Saiti was a very strong man, he endured many health issues. He pulled through each one and came out the victor! He conquered hospital visits both mentally and physically, he wasn’t easily discouraged.
He truly loved his family, immediate and distant. He kept in touch with all of them, it was normal for Saiti to spend a long time on a phone call with a family member. Saiti had a testimony of his Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. He enjoyed reading the Bible. If Saiti knew you needed something, it was yours, he wouldn’t wait for you to ask for it. He was a man of little possessions. However, what little he had, he would offer with his whole heart, and without question or mention. He was a great example of unconditional love. He truly left a legacy and will be missed dearly!
