Lois Layton Shay

Lois Layton Shay died in her home on August 14, 2017, in West Valley City surrounded by most of her children.  She was 89 years old.
Lois was born May 5, 1928, in Salt Lake City, UT to her parents, Russell and Erma Layton.  She attended South High School.  She married William Wallis Shay on May 13, 1946.  They raised twelve children together.  She wore many hats working at Cummings Ice Cream, as a waitress, at Zims Crafts, K-D Novelty and Pinkerton Security.
Mrs. Shay is survived by four sons and six daughters; Russell (Judy) Shay, Karen Bolton, Susan (John) McCrindle, John (Sharon) Shay, Nancy (Johannes) Ruegner, Frank (Peggy) Shay, Lynn (Dean) Farrington, Patrick Shay, Mary (Terry) Ewell and Brenda (Don) Zobell; 34 grandchildren, 91 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, and her sister Wanda.  She is preceded in death by her husband, William Wallis Shay; her daughter, Katherine Craddock, her son, Michael Shay and her great-granddaughter, Dakota Shay; parents; step-mother; three stepbrothers; two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 6710 W 4145 S, West Valley City on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at 11:00 am.  Friends may visit with the family prior to services from 09:00 to 10:45 am.
Interment at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 S Redwood Rd, West Jordan, UT 84123.
