Lois Jean Burbank Nielsen

Lois Jean Burbank Nielsen, age 86, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her children on September 15, 2019 and is now reunited with her husband and loved ones who passed before her. She was born on September 7, 1933 in San Francisco, California to Henry DeLore and Myrtle Myrinda Burbank. She was the oldest of 5 siblings.
She lived in San Francisco until the age of 14 when her parents moved to Salt Lake City, but her heart has always been in San Francisco. She attended and graduated from West High School where she met and married the love of her life, Harold Wayne Nielsen, on February 1, 1951. She worked for many years at LDS Hospital as a floor clerk and retired from there. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was called to serve many positions. She and Harold served a stake mission and they both also worked at the Salt Lake Temple for 11 years. She loved her 7 children and adored all her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her sister Marilyn Moyes (John), daughter Debra Jean Jacobsen (Stephen), son Einar Wayne Nielsen (Robin), daughter Vicki Lee Nielsen, daughter Lori Deann Brown (Kerry), daughter Lisa Dawn Duncan (Shawn), son Derrick Jay Nielsen (Elaine), daughter Melanie Kaye Wright (Kim), 24 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harold Wayne Nielsen, father Henry Delore Burbank, mother Myrtle Myrinda Burbank, sister Shirley Oreno, brother Gary Burbank, sister Emily Frances Lucero and grandson Joshua Michael Wright.
We would like to thank Intermountain Hospice, especially Dennis Keyes, RN, her Chaplain, Doug Opp and Tina McAllister, her wonderful Home Health Aide, for the amazing care they gave our mom.
Friends and family can attend a viewing on Sunday, September 22, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and also on Monday, September 23, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123. Interment will be at Memorial Redwood Cemetery following the services.
