Lois Christensen Armstrong

December 22, 1927 — May 12, 2017

Lois Christensen Armstrong, 89, passed away on May 12, 2017 surrounded by her family, who loved her dearly.  Lois was born December 22, 1927, the oldest child of Orson and Gladys Christensen. She grew up in Logan Utah and moved to Salt Lake City when she was 13. She met the love of her life, Albert Thomas Armstrong and was married June 28th, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were the parents of seven children, thirty six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She worked as a nurse for many years at the LDS hospital in Salt Lake City, and at Granite High School for seventeen years. She loved going boating and camping with her family and loved the outdoors. She played the saxophone and clarinet. She was active in politics and served as a City Councilwoman for South Salt Lake. She was very involved in church and in scouting, working for many years as a cook for various Boy Scout camps and as a cub leader many times during her life. She earned the highest award for volunteer work with the Boy Scouts of America, the Silver Beaver. She was active all of her life and loved her family with all her heart. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary or holiday and was independent and spirited all her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Jolene, husband Albert Thomas Armstrong, and her daughter Christine Leone Bernardo. She is survived by her brother, Jerry Christensen (Jill), Children, Michael Armstrong (Lauren), Patricia Lundgreen (Kevan), Thomas Armstrong (Carol), Steven Armstrong, James Armstrong(Lori), Sergio Bernardo (Mishele), Katherine Walters (Kelly) thirty six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 19, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at the River Oaks 3rd Ward Chapel, 8825 South 1095 West, West Jordan, Utah.  Visitation will be at Memorial Lake Hills Mortuary, 10055 South State Street, Sandy, Utah, Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and again Friday 1 hour prior to services at church.  For the complete obituary and to express condolences to the family.  Please visit www.memorialutah.com.
