Lois Kay Alviso was born to the late Richard and Wilma Niverson on Monday, May 16, 1960 in Anderson, Indiana. She and Gilbert R. Alviso were married on Saturday, September 15, 1979. For many years Lois took care of the needs of her family. It brought her much joy to be home with her children and investing in their daily lives. After her children were grown up, Lois decided to join the workforce. For 8 years she worked as a Software Tester for Coventry Health Care. Her hobbies included making crafts, cooking, and sewing. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Lois also enjoyed breeding Shih Tzu’s. Some of her fondest memories were spent with her grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
On Friday, May 9, 2014 Lois peacefully passed away surrounded by her loved ones, due to complications from ALS. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
To forever cherish her memory is her husband of nearly 35 years, Gilbert R. Alviso; their three children, son Steven Alviso (wife, Amanda), daughter, Briley Owen (husband, Steven) and son, Jacob Alviso (wife, Nola); four grandchildren, Laila, Raegan, Steven Ray Jr. and Kaitlin; her parents (which raised her) Patricia and Larry Niverson; eight sisters, LuAnn Randol, Tonya Niverson, Donna Niverson Mills, Tamara Niverson Tobin, Natalie Niverson, Erin Niverson, Lizzie Erwin and Corry Niverson; two brothers, Daniel Niverson and Jay Niverson; many nieces and nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as other family members and friends.
Lois also leaves behind her five Shih Tzu’s: Sadie, Lacee, Cliphton, Dunkin, and LuLu who gave her great joy and comfort.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road in West Jordan. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 7:00-9:00 pm at the mortuary and one hour prior to services on Saturday. Interment will follow at Redwood Memorial Park.
