Lloyd Hill

Lloyd James Hill, our loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away on December 24, 2014, of natural causes. He was born April 14, 1928 in Salt Lake City, the son of Andrew John and Mary Ann Hartshorn Hill.
Following graduation from East High School, Lloyd attended the University of Utah, receiving a degree in Civil Engineering. In 1950, he married his sweetheart and best friend, Beverly (Bev) Wallberg, in the Salt Lake Temple.
He served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War and was deployed to England to help build and expand air fields to receive B-36 bombers. Upon his completion of service, Lloyd and Bev made their home in Provo, Utah, where they raised their three children.
Lloyd spent his career with U S Steel, beginning at the Geneva Works and finishing his career at corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Following his retirement, Lloyd and Bev returned to Salt Lake City.
During his life, Lloyd devoted many years to the Boy Scouts of America, receiving the Silver Beaver Award for his distinguished service. He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, fulfilling many callings including Bishop, Stake Presidency, and Ordinance Worker in the Jordan River and Draper Temples.
Lloyd lived and taught that any job worth doing was worth doing well. He loved to garden and maintained an immaculate yard. He leaves a great legacy of working hard and loving family. We love you and will miss you.
Lloyd is survived by his daughter, Shauna (Tom) Coleman, Sandy, UT; son, Scott (Carla) Hill, Frisco, TX; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Elaine (Bud) Buddell, Murray, UT, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bev; son, Steven (Lynn) Hill; parents; brother, Jack (Louise) Hill; and sister, Larue (Tom) Elliott.
There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121. A memorial service will be held at the same location on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at 11:00 a.m.
