Lloyd Dwayne Gray was born in Garden City, Kansas on April 28, 1939 to the parents of Nathan and Joyce Baldridge Gray. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers (Myron and James), one son (Bevan) as well as one sister, Karen Gray Wainright.
Lloyd was educated in the Kansas City School District. He lettered in football and track at Garden City High School. Upon graduating, he relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah and attended Salt Lake Community College where he earned an Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering. After employment at Union Pacific Railroad, SLC, UT, his next opportunity was at Hercules Bacchus Plant, Magna, UT. from which he retired as Lieutenant of Fire and Security after twenty-five years of service. While serving in this position, he earned his EMT and worked in emergency rooms at Pioneer Valley and LDS hospitals.
Lloyd Gray was a devoted member of The Point Church, Kearns, Utah. He served in many positions including Deacon, Trustee, Nominating Team, and a small couples group. He loved his church and was a loyal and faithful member. Lloyd was active in the High Marine # 12 Masonic Lodge, SLC., UT, an avid golfer, fisherman, bowler, and jazz enthusiast. He enjoyed traveling and was founder of “The Cruising Buppies”.
Lloyd leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Dr. Joyce M. Gray; two daughters, Dwala Gray Toombs (General) of German Town, Maryland and Denise Gray Howard of Salt Lake City, Utah; one son, Jevante J. Suggs-Gray of Salt Lake City, Utah); seven grandchildren, Jasmine, Eric, Marcus, Jalen, Nathan, Kimberly, and Jaliyah; three great grandchildren, Kayson, Ariella and Damien; two brothers, Elder Robert R. Thomas (Deborah), Kansas City, MO, Leroy Thomas Jr., Garden City, KS; two sisters, Sandra Thomas, Kansas City, KS and Donna Lowe (Leon), Kansas City, MO; and a host of other relatives and friends. We extend a special thanks to Quality Home Health and Hospice for their dedication to Lloyd’s health needs during his final days.
Viewings are scheduled for Friday, December 29, 2017 from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 11:00 am until 12 noon at The Point Church, 5133 Heath Avenue, Kearns, UT prior to the home going service, which will begin at 12 noon at the same location.Service Information
