Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on March 13, 2015. Lloyd was born February 9, 1928 in Downey, Idaho to Alma William Anderson and Lula Mary Burrup. He was raised in Downey and grew up on a small dry farm. He graduated from Downey High School in 1946. He served a mission in the Spanish American Mission in 1948 (headquartered in El Paso, TX). Lloyd worked at Hill Air Force Base for 31 years. He was then employed by the LDS Church for 7 years.
Lloyd met the love of his life, JoAnn Allred in 1954 at Derks Field and they were married on August 26, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple. Lloyd was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions, including Bishop, Stake High Councilor and Stake President. He was called to open and manage a large humanitarian room at Welfare Square. He was an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple. His life was truly one of service to others. Lloyd was also active in the community. He served as chaplain for the South Salt Lake Police Department and on the planning and zoning committee.
Lloyd is survived by his children, Kurt of Salt Lake City, Ryan (Kim) of Seattle, WA, Von (Dana) of South Jordan, Utah, Brad (Kim) of Seattle, WA; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Neola Gleed, Marie (Doyle) Morrison. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, JoAnn; sister, Letha; brothers, Wayne and Clive and great-granddaughter, Olivia.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 20th, 11:00 a.m. at the Southgate Ward Chapel, 2702 So. Main St. in Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at the church and from 10 – 10:45 a.m. prior to services on Friday. Interment, Redwood Memorial Cemetery.
