Lisa Kaye Gines, beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, following a courageous but short battle with cancer. She was 62. Lisa is survived by her brother, Bryan, and four nephews: Casey (Keshia), Auston, Max, and Jake. Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Joan, her brother Ken, and her niece Ashley.
Lisa was born on October 20, 1962, to Gordon Gines and Joan Broadhead. She was born in Heber, Utah, raised in West Jordan, Utah and died in her Sugarhouse home. She purchased her own house in 1989 in Sugarhouse and it was her sanctuary with over the years, various renovations, modernizations, and personal touches added to the original 1908 house.
Lisa was known for working hard and being self-sufficient. She was known as a great cook and successful baker. She loved working in her urban garden (always bragging about her first tomato of the season), knitting, and winning at Scrabble. She loved spending time with her family over Sunday dinners, at family reunions, and while traveling. Her free time was spent with her book club, cats, and chickens. Her love of books extended beyond her house to a neighborhood sharing library frequented by many neighbors. Her close friends were like family.
The Gines family wishes to thank everyone who visited, called, and showed support for Lisa over the last few years. Lisa would want you to know that she appreciated the concern, friendship, and love of everyone who reached out.
