Our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother Linda Shepherd Collett White Newton passed away December 19, 2024. She was born August 23, 1939 to Geneve Hardy Shepherd and Lyman Lockwood Shepherd in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Linda grew up in Salt Lake City, graduating from Granite High School. Linda married Kenneth Collett on November 11, 1961. They had 3 children. Linda and Ken enjoyed many years of camping, fishing, golfing and enjoying life until Kenneth’s death in 1995. Linda and Kenneth were sealed at the Draper Temple Sept 4, 2013 for time and all eternity. Linda later married David Newton, relocating to Lake Havasu, Arizona. A few years later, David passed on. Linda soon married her last husband, Rubert “Jim” White. They enjoyed the outdoor life together until Rubert’s declining health forced Linda to return with him to Salt Lake City for support and care from her children. Rubert soon moved to the Midwest to be under the care of his children and passed away a year later. Linda lived the rest of the life surrounded by her children and friends in Salt Lake City.
Linda is survived by her children: Scott Kenneth (wife Nicole), Corrie Lynne (husband Scott), and Stacey Ann; nine grandchildren Skyler, Taylor, Hannah, Jack, Trayton, Jaxton, Olivia, Macy and Ana; and one great-grandchild, Bruin; and her brother Steve Shepherd (wife Wilma).
Funeral services will be held Monday December 30th at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery. 3115 E. 7800 S., Cottonwood Heights, Utah at 1:00pm for viewing and 2:00 for main service.
