Linda Lurice Liedtke Hoskisson

July 27, 1940 — May 4, 2022

Our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, Linda Lurice Liedtke Hoskisson, 81, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at St Joseph’ s Villa in Salt Lake City, UT. Linda was born on July 27th, 1940, In Salt Lake City to Max Paul Liedtke and Verda L. Snyder. She was the youngest of eight children.
She met her future husband, Clifford Willes Hoskisson, while in high school and they were married for 61 wonderful years. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on July 3, 1959. They were the parents of six children: Jeff (Christie) Hoskisson, Brian Keith (Jen) Hoskisson, Sherri Hoskisson, Suzette Hoskisson Wilson, Kent Hoskisson, and Jill Hoskisson. They were the proud grandparents of 14: Abby Hoskisson (Eric Foster), Benjamin (Heather) Hoskisson, Doug Jacobs, Emily (Nate) Jensen, Breanne (Derek) Hendricks, Lizzie (Luke) Justice, Blake Hoskisson, Sara Jacobs, Amber (Charlie) Propst, Haley Hoskisson, Quinn Hoskisson, Cameron Hoskisson, Aubrey Hoskisson, and Colton Hoskisson, and 11 great-grandchildren: Hunter, Lily, Riley, Ellie, Allisyn, Gavin, Fredrich, Gendryck, Hazel, Broly, and Natalie.
Mom loved doing ceramics. She started doing this at different shops and places. She would clean the ceramics, paint them and then have them fired in a kiln or have them fired in a kiln first and then paint them. She loved this so much, she eventually made a ceramics room in the basement of her home in Midvale complete with a kiln. She taught many of her children and grandchildren how to clean their own ceramics. Some of them were taught how to load a kiln, and all of them were taught how to paint the fired ceramics. Many of the grandchildren begged to paint as soon as they walked in the door to visit grandma. The legacy of mom’s ceramics lives on in the rooms of her posterity’s homes.
She loved flowers. Her favorites were roses and carnations. The smell of lilacs was one of her favorite scents. She loved to receive flowers for any occasion. Flowers made her happy.
Her love of books lasted until she passed away. She would read books everyday until it was too hard to do on her own. She loved to read Richard Paul Evans, and Anita Stansfield along with many other authors.
Holidays were special for mom. She would decorate the whole house on every holiday. Most of the decorations were ones that she made herself. She packed up all the normal decorations, those put out during non-holiday seasons. And brought out the ones for the holiday. The house was always festive for any holiday. The kids and grandkids loved it. She insisted on having a flocked Christmas tree every year and made the front windows look they were snow-covered window panes. She made gingerbread men every year during Christmastime, a tradition from her mother which she passed the recipe down to her children. She was famous for the divinity she made at Christmas, too.
Mom was an avid bowler. She played in many leagues for many years. She even participated in a bowling tournament in Reno, Nevada with one of her daughters.
She was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints and had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Max Paul Liedtke, and Verda L Snyder and her seven siblings. Wanita Hill, Carma Hunter, Paul Liedtke, Elwood Liedtke, Bonnie Wagstaff, Jerry Liedtke, and Larry Liedtke. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
