Linda was born on November 16, 1942, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the beautiful daughter of Gertrude Mary Rosenhan and Alexander McLachlan Jr. She grew up in Bountiful, Utah where she graduated from Bountiful High School in 1961. She then moved to Provo, Utah to attend BYU, where she met the love of her life, Martin Clyde Bingham. Linda was married to Martin on April 3rd, 1968 in the Salt Lake Temple. Martin and Linda moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where Martin attended dental school and Linda graduated with a Bachelors in Education. Linda taught Kindergarten for many years and loved it very much.
She loved to sing and enjoyed all kinds of soft music. She especially loved playing her piano. Her dream was to sing in the Tabernacle Choir and now she will be singing in heavenly choirs. She had an unshakable faith, even through her battle with GBM. She was witty and fun, often telling jokes to the hospital staff and her hospice nurses. She had us smiling and laughing, even through the toughest of times. Her faith was so strong, it carried her through many life trials, including the loss of her grandson, Devin Bingham, during her battle with cancer. Her faith gave her strength and peace in her last days.
She was a wonderful example of a godly woman. Her love of life was exceeded only by her love of her family and her Savior Jesus Christ. She served faithfully throughout her life in many callings as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved the opportunity to serve as a guide in the Conference Center, as well as serving as a volunteer in the Jordan River Temple. One of her greatest joys was serving two full-time missions with her husband. The first one in Washington D.C. and a second in South Carolina. The only thing that brought her more joy than serving in her church callings, was being a wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander McLachlan Jr. and Gertrude Mary Rosenhan McLachlan. Her brothers, Douglas McLachlan, David McLachlan, and her grandson Devin Bingham. She is survived by her husband Martin Bingham and their three children, Andrew Martin Bingham, Jeffrey Jason Bingham and his wife Jodi, and Merilee Bingham. Her grandsons, Brooks Bingham and his wife Kelsey, Berkeley Bingham, Will Bingham, their mother, Pilvi Fristrom Bingham, Boston Bingham, and Ace Bradford. Her siblings, Barbara McLachlan Rueckert and her husband Frank, Thomas McLachlan and his wife Taunie, Bryan McLachlan and his wife Wendy, and Douglas’ wife Jana.
We would like to express our gratitude to Intermountain Hospice for their sensitive, kind, and loving care these last few months, especially Janice Mitchell, our kind and loving nurse.
