Lillie Sylvia Valdez “Mana”, age 75, passed away on 5-4-2022 in West Jordan, Utah at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on 1-16-1947 in San Antonio, Texas to Albino and Pauline Garza. She married the love of her life, David Valdez, on 3-13-1970 in Chicago, Illinois. The family moved to Sandy, Utah in 1981 and later moved to West Jordan. David and Lillie were married for 52 amazing years. Their marriage was the true definition of “Love”.
Lillie worked for the Department of Education for 22 years and retired at the age of 62. She enjoyed crocheting blankets and slippers and could sit for hours making beautiful gifts for her family.
Lillie was the best wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Once she became a grandmother that’s when she became “Mana”. All of the grandkids called her that and the whole family adopted the name. She proudly wore that name as a badge of honor and she was the best “Mana” ever. She loved her family so much and would always put her family first. Love as powerful as hers leaves a mark. To have been loved so deeply, even though she is gone, will give us protection forever.
She is survived by her husband, David Valdez. Children: David A. and Brandi Valdez, Veronica Valdez and Ben Alvera and Richard Valdez. Grandchildren: Veronica and Brennan Ray; Alex Valdez; Coco, Lily and Jaxon Alvera; Bodhi and Kiya Valdez and great grandchild, Olivia Ray. Siblings: Alvin, Ernesto, Manuel and John Garza, Mary Prentice and Connie Paniagua.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Richard Garza and daughter in law Angelina Garcia.
