Lillie (Pat) Reid, 78, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, January 28, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah after years of debilitating diabetes and COPD.
She was born in Dallas, Texas to Jack Nickelson and Ethel Margaret Killings. In 1954, at age fifteen she was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints against her family’s wishes.
She worked as a bartender in Salt Lake City for years. In 1990 she bought a home in the VIP Residential Community where she lived the remainder of her life until ten days before her death when she was at Midtown Manor.
As a member of the Rosedale Ward, she would attend using her walker and as she entered the chapel she would call out, “Hello Bishop!” in her resounding voice, even if the meeting had started, as she made her way to the front row.
For several years she sent a check each month to support a young girl in South America, even though her income was meager.
The pictures that adorned her walls were of the Savior and the apostles, especially David O McKay.
She had a voice and a heart as large as her stature and a unique personality that was unforgettable.
Her funeral service will be held at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, Salt Lake City, Utah on Friday, February 2, at 1:30 pm, with a viewing at 1 pmService Information
