Lillian Lucille Lundholm Swatsell

June 27, 1927 — May 17, 2020

Lillian Lucille Lundholm Swatsell, age 92, of West Jordan, Utah passed away in her home Sunday morning, May 17, 2020. She was beloved by many.
Lillian was born June 27, 1927 in the township of Steuben, Illinois to Elmer Emanuel Lundholm and Mahalia Ann Nelson. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband Joseph Edward Swatsell, her father, mother, her siblings, Dorothy Martha Jane Lundholm (Fred Morris Pagano), Mabel Viola Lundholm, Paul Howard Lundholm (Beulah Mae Shandy), Gladys Marie Lundholm (Gerald Howard Kobischka), and Clyde Luther Lundholm.
She was raised on a small Illinois farm where she was taught the value of hard work, charity, and love for family and God. When she was 18 she met Joe Swatsell. She said it was love at first sight. They were married October 27, 1945 in Chillicothe, Illinois in the parsonage of the Congressional Church.
They converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1953 and became dedicated members who loved serving the Lord. Lillian loved the Lord so much that at age 66 she served a proselyting mission for 18 months in Arizona along with young missionaries. She served in many Church callings before and after, including service as a temple worker in the Jordan River Temple in Utah.
In 1977 Lillian and Joe moved from Illinois to Prescott, Arizona for a drier climate. After 2 years they moved to Logan, Utah to be closer to their son. Despite the distance she remained a beloved aunt and stayed connected to home and family in Illinois, visiting when she could. Family was her most cherished treasure.
She loved school and learning. After retirement she learned to paint and enjoyed her new perspective of God’s creations. She spent time reading and doing brain puzzles, like sudoku and cryptograms. She especially loved playing card games with her family, particularly wild canasta.
Lillian is survived by her son, Joseph Edward Swatsell (Rhonda Olsen), their children Jonathon Edward Swatsell and Ashley Swatsell Brown (Benjamin Lee Brown), as well as nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 30. We are looking forward to seeing family and friends.
The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support. Lillian always felt that every friend and neighbor was family. She always spoke about how we are all children of God. She truly loved the Lord.
