Lila Mae Astle Hansen, age 90, died on May 4, 2016, in Provo, Utah. She was born on December 28, 1925 to Ira Anderson and James Rueben Astle in Green River, Wyoming. She married Robert Levern Hansen on April 1, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Lila loved to travel, especially to church history sites. She was a very talented pianist and organist as well as an avid reader and scriptorian. She taught piano as well as early morning seminary for many years. Lila was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served in many callings. She enjoyed serving in the Los Angeles, CA, Jordan River, UT, Chihuahua, Mexico and Denver, CO temples. Lila served 2 proselyting missions; the first in the Eastern States Mission in 1949 and then in the Mexico Chihuahua mission in 2001 at the age of 75.
Before Lila married she worked for Western Union as a telegrapher and as a manager at the Yellowstone Inn. Later in life she worked as a rehabilitation specialist at Deseret Industries in Los Angeles, California.
She is survived by children: Robert M. (Anne), Richard L., Robyn (Kelly) Salvesen, Baylee Peterson and Renell (Rob) Parker; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Hansen.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Highland 23rd Ward, 10962 North 6400 West, Highland, UT with a viewing one hour prior. Interment will be at the Grover Cemetery, Afton, WY, on Friday May 20,, 2016 at 2 PM.Service Information
