Lila Jean Maynard Palmer Frandsen

April 4, 1936 — October 5, 2017

Lila Jean Maynard Palmer Frandsen died peacefully in her sleep on October 5, 2017, surrounded by her family.  She was born April 4, 1936, in Oakley, ID to George and Golda Butterfield Maynard.  She grew up in Riverton, UT and attended Riverton Elementary and Jordan High School where she made many life-long friends.  She played first seat coronet in the school marching band.  She married Val Palmer on August 28, 1952.  They had eight children and she devoted her entire life to her kids, toiling tirelessly in a tiny two-bedroom home on the corner of the Palmer family farm in South Jordan.  She took her children to church from early ages and served faithfully all of her life in various callings.  She was divorced in 1972 and worked jobs to help support her children.  She married Clark Frandsen in 1977 and moved to West Jordan.  Together they had fourteen children and eventually 200 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  They served a mission together at the Dallas, TX LDS Temple, which was one of the great joys of her life.
More recently, she resided at Coventry Cove in Riverton, where she renewed old friendships and made many new friends.  She loved life and people.  She reached out to others, served them, lifted their burdens wherever she could and loved all.  She had an infectious smile a playful sense of humor and a sparkling laugh, all of which brightened any room she entered and every heart she touched.  Her passions were her family, reading gospel literature, working word-search puzzles and music.  She played the harmonica and conducted a senior harmonica band.  In the end, her heart simply wore out from joyfully giving so much to so many for so long. As a member of DUP she was proud of her heritage.
Lila is survived by her brothers, Eugene and Myrlin Maynard (Linda); Children (Palmers): Valerie (Duane Bills), Wayne (Christy),  Debra,  Jeff (Leasa), Karen (Al Witkamp), Danny (Kalene), Mont (Shauna), and Carla  (Steve Arnold),  Frandsen sons, Cleon (Mary), Marvin,  Shawn (Nadine), Troy (Jennifer), Frandsen daughters,  Rolana (Dan Marshall), VaNae (David Barlow);  78 grandchildren; 120 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; her brother, Lawrence and numerous in-laws.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at 12:00 PM at the Riverton Tenth Ward Chapel, at 12830 South 2700 West.  All are invited to attend a viewing on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the same chapel, or Saturday between 10:30 and 11:30 prior to the services. Interment to follow service at Memorial Redwood Cemetery.  The Palmer and Frandsen families express their immense gratitude to the management and residents of Coventry Cove for the kindness and friendship they extended to mom, and also our deep appreciation to everyone at Spring Creek and all those involved in mom’s hospice care, for the tenderness and concern each showed her in her final days and hours.
