Liahona Willy Scheller, born October 9th, 1935 in Rotterdam Netherlands, left this world February 27th, 2014. She was the daughter of Willem Riet and Cornelia Van Den Boogert. She was married twice before finding the love of her life in Bert LeRoy Scheller. They married June 11th, 1962.
In her life, she embraced a number of hobbies and accomplishments. She loved jigsaw puzzles, needlepoint, photography, and gardening. She was especially talented at photographing the wildflowers around her home in Colorado. Throughout her life she held a deep and consuming love of animals. She always had room for a stray but developed a particular affinity for raccoons and hummingbirds during her time in Colorado. She worked at a number of jobs but spent the happiest years of her life running Loveland Heights Cottages in Estes Park with Roy. She had a smile for everyone that came through her door. Her usual greeting of “Hello, Sunshine” or “Good morning, Sunshine” was heard by hundreds of vacationers and travelers during the 15 years in the cottages. She was always ready to laugh and find the humorous side of every situation.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bert LeRoy, a son John Mayo, a grandson Alex Jackson, and a daughter-in-law Norma Scheller. She is survived by her 3 children, William (Bill) Haight and his wife Diane, Alice Huber, and Leonard Scheller, 2 stepchildren, Jill Ann Lee and her husband Jerry, and Mark Scheller and his wife Cynthia. She has 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
At her request, the family will be having a private memorial services later in the summer at her favorite camping spot.
