Lewis M. Burns, 86, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021 at his home in Layton, Utah. A celebration
of life service will be held for family on Friday, July 9, 2021, at Memorial Lakeview Cemetery in Bountiful,
Utah.
Lewis was born April 21, 1935, in Paisley, Scotland to John and Helen (Hogg) Burns. After graduating
from secondary school, he entered the Queen’s Regimental Army and was stationed at Windsor Castle.
He married Elizabeth Cairns at the Orr Square Church on March 10, 1961, by the Reverend Morrison,
and they had three children. During this time, Lewis was employed by Mitchell’s Gas Works.
In 1973, Lewis and Betty took a leap of faith and immigrated to the United State where they resided in
Bountiful for 35 years. Lewis was employed at Star Brass Foundry where he retired after 27 years of
service.
Lewis was an all-around athlete and enjoyed many sports, including competitive soccer, ice skating and
cycling which he did until he was 80 years old. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Lewis is survived by his loving wife, Betty of Layton, Utah.; his three daughters Jacquie (Mark), Laura
(Mark), Gail; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He is proceeded in death by his parents and his six brothers.
He will be missed.
