Leonard Eugene Burrows, Jr.

Gene passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 21, 2019. Gene was born on September 29, 1925 in Garland, Utah to Leonard Eugen Burrows, Sr. and Eva Ellaline Thornock.
Gene graduated from Box Elder High School on May 22, 1943. He attended Weber State College and Utah State Agriculture College where he was an honor student. In 1944 he served in the Marine Corps in the Marshall Islands as an aircraft mechanic. In 1950 he received Reserve Officers Training.
Gene married Fonnie Leola Wells on March 8, 1951. They later divorced. Together they had 4 children: Kathleen Eva (Michael Lee), Patricia Ann (William Rosner), Kenneth Eugene and Mark Glade. Gene worked as an insurance adjuster for State Farm until he took a medical retirement in 1981. He met and married Dixie Geane Smith Dustin on July 28, 1983. He gained 4 additional children: Ricci A. Dustin, Sharon R. Dustin (Norman C. Berget), Larry G. Dustin and Alta G. Dustin. Gene is grandpa to about 65 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and praises the Lord for all his many wonderful blessings, including two temple marriages.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 6 to 8 PM at the LDS Ward, 981 East Revere Circle, Salt Lake City, Utah.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 11 AM, with a viewing one hour prior to the service at LDS Ward, 981 East Revere Circle, Salt Lake City, Utah.  To read Gene’s obituary in full, please visit www.memorialutah.com.
