Leona Colleen Clauson widow, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother passed away September 24, 2017 at Legacy Village Memory Care Facility in Taylorsville, Utah.
Leona, though she preferred to be called Colleen, was born June 8, 1930 in Salt Lake City to William Gritton and Anna Leona Hansen Gritton. Colleen grew up with brothers Verl Gritton, Deloy Gritton, Gerald Gritton (Maureen), and sister Linda Gritton Swayze in the Salt Lake valley. She married Robert Canavan in 1946 (solemnized in the LDS Manti Temple in 1963). They were the parents of Barbara Colleen Canavan Mecham (William), Buddy Dale Canavan, and Jeffrey Robert Canavan (Cami). She was grandmother to 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild. Her first husband Robert Canavan passed away in 1984. She later married Howard Clauson, who passed away in 2004. Colleen lived alone until declining health required she move to an assisted living facility.
Funeral services will be at Memorial Redwood Mortuary at 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 2:00 PM. A viewing will be at Noon on Saturday, September 30, 2017.
