Leo Young

Leo August Young passed away on January 18, 2018 at the age of 95. Leo was born on August 29, 1922 in Taylor, Arizona and was the 7th of 9 children born to Walter and Sylvia Pierce Young. He grew up in Oakley and Salt Lake City and attended West High. After high school, he joined the Navy in World War II and was part the Seabees. Leo was part of the invasions of North Africa and Italy. After the war, he married Marjorie Haddon Young and they had 5 children. Leo was a proud member of the Ironworkers Union Local No. 27 and a charter member of Local No. 732 in Pocatello, Idaho. Leo loved to travel the West in his motorhome, fish, hunt, and restore antique cars. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 7 siblings, and his son Donald and his wife Lynda. He is survived by his sister Lois, daughter Marlene Calderwood (Alan), daughter Marilyn Young, son Keith Young, and son Kent Young (Judy), grandchildren Marc Jepson, Christina Jepson (Erik Christiansen), Mike Jepson (Nikki), David Jepson, Ragan Koran, Kristofer Young, and Kurtis Young, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Leo lived a long life and will be missed by all who loved him. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, January 25th at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Mountain View, 3115 East Bengal Blvd (7800 South), Cottonwood Heights.
