Leo died Sunday morning January 1, 2017 at his home in Midvale. He was born in Penasco, New Mexico on December 23, 1932 to Ruben and Beatrice Martinez. He moved to Utah to work at Kennecott at age 18.
He met and married his wife, Gloria Gallegos in Bingham Canyon. He is survived by his wife, Gloria, his son, Leo (Lisa), his daughter Rebecca, and his sister Ernestina (Fermin) Duran. He has 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his two sons Tom and Bill, and his three brothers, Luciano, Manuel, and Andres.
He loved his Friday night Bingo, loved his morning coffee visits with friends and cousins, and enjoyed playing cards with his grandkids. He was a great provider (33 years at Kennecott). Although he was stubborn at times, he cherished his family. The family would like to especially thank Hearts for Hospice, Evan, Sara and Amy for their grace and compassion.
He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday January 6, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Therese Catholic Church, 7832 Allen St. Midvale, Utah. A viewing and rosary will be held the night before, January 5, 2017 from 6-8 pm. Interment will be held at Midvale City Cemetery. www.memorialutah.com
