Lena Njord Spencer

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Lena Njord Spencer, returned home after her long, courageous battle with cancer on June 28, 2016. Lena was born in Sweden on June 22, 1947 to Eric and Britta Njord. She married her best friend, Kent Spencer, on August 4, 1967 and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on August 20, 1976. Her family was her whole world. Kent and Lena have four wonderful children, Taunya (John) Gossner, Todd (Missy) Spencer, Traci (Eddie) Eggers, and Troy Spencer. Her greatest joy is her 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, cheltsie (Colton), Casey (Jess), Kourtney, Madison, Austin (Mikaela), McKade, Kaden, Kody, Conner, Brock, Olivia, and Jameson. She is survived by her sisters, Mona (Joe) Raymond, Kris (Gary) Sander, and Helen Njord. She is also survived by her sisters- in-law, Judy (Rolf) Njord and Darlene (Lars) Njord. She is also survived by Kent’s siblings, Linda Nance, Debbie (Don) Albrand, Denise (Jack) Hamilton, and Steve Spencer. Lena had a special gift of making everyone she met feel special. She was always putting others first. She made friends wherever she went. She talked with her sisters almost daily. She was very supportive of her immediate and extended family. She had a home day care for many years. Those children knew her as grandma. Some of them remained a part of her life even after they became adults. She truly cared about people. She loved visiting friends and family. She was happy for other people’s successes in life. She quietly served as a visiting teacher and visiting teaching supervisor. She enjoyed getting to know people as a ward missionary. She took her role as wife and mother seriously. She did it so well. She was welcoming to anyone that came to her house. She will be greatly missed by all. She was a living example of Christ like service and love
The evening viewing will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016, from 6 to 8 PM at 7511 South 2700 West, West Jordan, Utah.
