Leland Doyle Christensen, a beloved figure known for his eccentric personality and unique passions, passed away on December 6, 2024, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on June 10, 1946, in Price, Utah, and he carried with him a vibrant spirit that touched the lives of many.
Leland served in the Army during Vietnam, displaying a commitment to his country that he carried with pride throughout his life. His experiences during this time shaped him in many ways, giving him a perspective that he shared with those lucky enough to know him.
An avid collector, Leland found joy in gathering items that many would overlook. His yard sales were legendary events in the community, inviting neighbors and friends to share in his passion for treasure hunting. The thrill of the find often echoed in the stories he would tell, infused with his own brand of humor and quirkiness.
Leland leaves behind his sister, Kenna Hurst, and brother-in-law, Charles Hurst, who will cherish the memories they made with him. He is preceded in death by his mother, Doris Farnsworth; father, Wendel Christensen; sister, Donna Mogard; and niece, Angie Hurst. Their absence is a poignant reminder of the bonds he valued deeply.
A graveside service in honor of Leland will be held on December 28, 2024, at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery in West Jordan, Utah. The service will begin at 2:00 PM, with a time of reflection and remembrance scheduled to conclude at 3:00 PM.
