Leathea Mae Turner

Leathea passed away peacefully August 3rd, 2021, in her home in West Jordan, Utah. She was born on June 11th, 1931, in Reidsville, North Carolina to Savannah Richmond Graves and Joseph Graves.
She attended Washington Highschool and was the youngest daughter of 11 children. She married James Dwight Turner Sr. in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on November 28th, 1953. Together they had one son, James Dwight Turner Jr. In 1965 Leathea’s husband, James took a transfer from Almstead Airforce Base in Pennsylvania (Harrisburg) to Hill Airforce Base in Ogden (Layton), Utah to continue his career.
Leathea was employed by Albertsons grocery store where she worked as a meat wrapper, until she retired in 1996. Leathea and her husband enjoyed hobbies together such as gardening and taking family trips in their Motorhome with their son, daughter in-law and granddaughter to Las Vegas and Wendover, Nevada. Leathea was an exceptional cook and dedicated homemaker. She enjoyed baking Christmas goodies for her family, friends, and neighbors. Leathea had a keen eye for fashion and style. She loved shopping at her favorite stores, Nordstrom and Dillard’s.
She leaves to honor and cherish her life and legacy, her son, James Dwight Turner Jr. and his wife Jeanine Turner, Granddaughter, Vanessa Turner, two sisters Velma Garrett (Fred) and Helen Graves (Percy), sister-in law, Mary Sue Graves (Ashby) and a host of nieces and nephews. Leathea is preceded in heaven by her parents, husband, five brothers, Ashby, James (Lorene), Joseph (Katie), Norris (Anna-belle), and William (Regina) Graves, and three sisters, Althea Turner (Walter), Beatrice Blackwell (Sandy), and Olivia Howard (Henry).

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021, 10 AM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
