Lawrence Joseph Fisher

December 24, 1935 — November 16, 2017

Lawrence J. Fisher, 81, passed away at home on November 16th, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Larry was born to Joe and Peggie Fisher in Salt Lake City on December 24th 1935. He was raised in East Millcreek and graduated from South High School. He married Carol Hales on February 9th, 1962 in the Salt Lake Temple. He is survived by 5 children, David (Susan), Cindy Little (Kent), Michelle Ferre (Shawn), Michael (Elisa), Joe Freiberg (Sherry) and sister Jolene DeWaal (Matt). He has 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, wife Carol, and daughter Alisa.
Larry had several interesting jobs in his life but was best known as owner of Fishers Cyclery in Sugarhouse. He enjoyed selling, repairing, and racing bicycles. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially deer hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed most sports, especially BYU football. He was also an unbelievable supporter of his children and grandchildren’s sporting events over the many years. He loved singing and sang in many choirs and quartets. He enjoyed very much being a part of the Cottonwood Heights community choir that has performed Handel’s Messiah for the last 20+ years. He loved people and enjoyed serving in many different callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He and Carol served together in the California Santa Rosa Mission. He recently served as Branch President of the Cottonwood Heights Stake Coventry/Wentworth Branch where he very much enjoyed association with many patrons.
He was a kind, gentle, understanding man that was a great listener. He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know him.
