Lawrence Clawson

Lawrence Allen Clawson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, returned home on July 28, 2020 and has been joyfully reunited with his wife and parents. He passed away peacefully in his favorite recliner at his own home, surrounded by family, and welcomed by our Savior.
Lawrence was born in Phoenix, AZ on June 23, 1936 to Marion and Florence Clawson. He was the oldest of 7 children, mostly boys (sorry Aunt Karen). His family moved to Dearborn St in Salt Lake City when he was 18 years old. He met the love of his life, his rodeo queen, Frances Roberta “Robin” Mitchell, and after a very brief courtship, they were married on June 12, 1964 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had three boys. Burton Lawrence Clawson (Sherry), Richard Edwin Clawson (Emily), and David Marion Clawson (Julie). He worked in drafting and later as a systems analyst for UDOT and made sure that every t was crossed and i was dotted. His precision and detailed record keeping are legendary to those who knew him well. Any family fact that we could not fully recall was easily found in Lawrence’s journal.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister Karen, brother Hugh, and sweet wife Robin. He is survived by his three boys and six grandchildren, Ethan, Claire, Aria, Jeffrey, Isaac, and Abby. We know there are joyful Clawson-style parties happening in heaven right now. We love you, Dad, and will follow your example always.
Due to Covid-19 concerns, family-only services will be held on Monday, August 3rd at 11am at the Stratford Ward Latter-day Saint Chapel (2635 S 1500 E, Salt Lake City) with a viewing beginning at 10am. Friends and neighbors are welcome to join us via Zoom at the link below. A private graveside dedication will follow. Lawrence will be interred at Memorial Holladay Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Memorial Holladay~Cottonwood Mortuary.
