Lawrence Benjamin Thomas

Our Beloved Husband, Brother, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Friend passed away on Tuesday March 28th after battling cancer. Lawrence was born March 31st 1943 in Salt Lake City, UT, the first of three children, to John Benjamin and Maurine Norma Thomas. Lawrence served nine years in the Navy during Vietnam. He married the love of his life, Patricia Swasey in Bountiful, UT on January 13th, 1971. During their 46 years together they raised 2 children and enjoyed 11 grandkids and 2 great grandchildren. He graduated from Granite High School in Salt Lake City. Lawrence retired from Albertsons after more than 25 years of service.
Lawrence will be remembered by his family and friends as a shining example of love, compassion, kindness and always willing to help others as shown by his selfless care of his wife Patricia over her lifetime. Everyone will remember and miss his whiteness.
Lawrence enjoyed good conversation and always would bring light into others, he also had a passion for games and shared his passion with all he loved and befriended.
Survived by his wife, Patricia; 2 children John Sherman (Elisha), Heide Smith. Brother and Sister J.B. and Shelly; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends. He was Preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard Swasey.
A viewing will be held Friday, April 7th, 2017 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at Memorial Funeral Home (6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan). Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 8th, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Highland 6th Ward Chapel (10115 South Yorkshire Dr, South Jordan) with a viewing from 9:45 to 10:45 Am. His Final resting place will be at the Mountain home Boneta Cemetery.
